On August 10-13, 2009, the Director of Indonesia Export Training Center (IETC), , Trade Departement, Nus Nuzulia Ishak visited and had a meeting at the Trade Facilitation Office Canada (TFO) and the Forum for International Trade Training (FITT) offices in Ottawa, Canada. The visit with TFO was to launch the cooperation between PPEI and TFO on Canada’s assistance for an export training program and support for Indonesian Business Women. Cooperation between IETC with TFO had been approved by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) as the funder from Canada with a program that will go on from 2009 to 2012. The meeting conducted at TFO’s office, attended by Brian Mithcell, Executive Director of TFO, Norman McIsaac, Overseas Program Director of TFO, Phillip Kelly, Project Manager of TFO for Indonesia, Nus Nuzulia Ishak, Director of IETC, Merry Maryati, Head of Promotion and Cooperation Division of IETC, and Sri Nastiti Budianti, Indonesian Trade Attache in Canada. During the meeting, IETC’s Director presented IETC’s profile and programs/activities along with 2010 PPEI cooperation planning program. Then conversation continued by discussing cooperation between PPEI and TFO that covers training, budget, partner and activities’ implementation. To prepare the programs for Indonesian Business Women, TFO will send a mission in October-November 2009, to identify the real needs in the field. The current program that has been approved covers Training for Trainers (ToT), and workshops, but there is also a possibility to conduct activities such as mentoring or coaching for Indonesian Business Women.
Afterwards, IETC Director also visited one of the international institutions that gives professional certificates to international trading expert, which is Forum For International Trade Training (FITT). FITT is a Canadian non-profit organization that was established in 1992 and already has 25.000 alumni that spread all over the world.
